The Doctor
Dr. Alessandra Puggioni, MD, RPVI, RphS, DFAVF, Alessandra Puggioni, MD, is a board-certified vascular surgeon.
An internationally recognized vein expert, educator, influencer and researcher, she earned her medical degree from the University of Rome La Sapienza, one of the world's top ranked universities. Following her surgical residency at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii, she completed a vascular surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Puggioni previously served as Chair of Vascular Surgery at HonorHealth in Scottsdale, Arizona, and was an affiliated faculty member of Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Over the course of her medical career, she has served as a mentor, teacher, and an educator, as well as an advisor to many colleagues and trainees, and has performed thousands of vein and vascular procedures, both in the hospital and in the office.
Her other leadership positions have included chairing the patient education committee, serving as the Education Councilor, and serving on the board of directors of the American Venous Forum, among others. Additionally, she is a Distinguished Fellow and a past recipient of the American Venous Forum Jobst Award and the Marco Polo Fellowship of the Society for Vascular Surgery. Puggioni serves as a distinguished reviewer for the Journal of Vascular Surgery: Venous and Lymphatic Disorders and is a member of its Editorial Board. The journal also honored her with the Best New Reviewer award. She has authored numerous publications in major medical journals and many book chapters, as well as presented her research work at numerous medical conferences.
Dr. Puggioni has made significant contributions to the development of national and international guidelines concerning venous disease as well as receiving numerous academic awards and research grants. She has consistently been selected as "Best Doctor" at the local and national levels because of her surgical expertise, positive clinical outcomes, and leadership skills.
